This book will teach you what you need to know to succeed at anything. Could you boil it down to a simple Top 10 Checklist? Sure. Why not? But that’s not the point. The point is these are the things that work. All successful people have these traits. Will they work for you? Sure. If you apply yourself, work hard, work smart, be disciplined and actually take action. I am successful because of these things. These are the core tenets of success and what all ultra successful people have in common.
Author’s Note: This is a copy of a book I wrote in 2018. This is the complete book with nothing taken out. In fact I’ve added some things and bonuses and some more of my thoughts. I wrote the book after a few years of failures. I had lost my way, traveled the USA, and was living out of my Jeep. Homeless, destitute and completely broke, I worked my way back from the brink of complete failure to rebuild my life and my business. This is the story and what I learn from that journey. It’s cold, hard, truthful and in-your-face. I pull no punches and I don’t sugar coat anything. This is my journey. Thanks for reading. (if you’d like a copy of the book to download and read n your phone please let me know )
I studied the most successful people in the world, read everything I could that they wrote, watched their videos and lectures and talks and extrapolated their ideas and advice into something that could help me succeed, and it worked.
I studied the the best of the best and I found that they all have these traits in common. Are there more? Sure. But these are the things that I found that work for most people. It worked for me and helped me become successful. I am confident they will help you become more successful too.
This whole book is about helping you reach your goals by teaching you to open parts of your mind you’ve never used before and to change your thought process. It’s about getting you in the success mindset. This book is to help you change the way you think about success and reveal to you those things that will help you become successful. What makes me qualified to share with you this information and knowledge?
I’m a successful entrepreneur who was once homeless and broke. I went from $0 in my bank account, zero income to being successful almost overnight. I was destitute, living in my car, sleeping alongside the road, camping out in the forests and deserts all over the USA. I had lost almost everything. I had to sell off most of my things just to make ends meet and I still ended up living in my car. I failed at so many things that I lost count.
So why in the world would you listen to me? Why should you listen to what I have to say?
Because I pulled myself out of a bad situation and turned a failure into a success. I’m confident I can teach you how to be successful too.
A little about me. I own my own business and have multiple successful websites and blogs. I have thousands of customers, ten of thousands of people subscribe to me and follow me on social media and millions of people read my content every month.
I’ve built and sold multiple successful eCommerce and blog websites. I’m a writer, author, blogger, and online marketer and I’m on my way to turning that into multiple 7 figures and becoming a multi-millionaire this coming year.
Not long ago, I went from being homeless and broke to making over $300 per day and I did it within 24 hours of making up my mind to do it. (then I lost is all…AGAIN!)
This book is about what it takes to come back from failure.
See…it wasn’t that I didn’t know how to make money. It wasn’t that I forgot how, because I have made a good living online for the past 20 years. The reason I was poor and homeless, broke and destitute living out of my car was because I lost my way. My mind was in a dark and cloudy place for a long while and it was very difficult for me to pull myself up and out of that place.
Being poor and hungry will change your life. It changed my life. How did I do it? How did I become successful so quickly after being in such a low place in my life? You might not believe this but it was simple.
I changed my mindset.
I realized something.
I could help other people do what I did.
So I wrote this book.
This book is the first book I’ve ever written. It has been a goal of mine all my life to write a book, but I never got around to it. I started many, and finished none…until now.
I made up my mind to do it and I did it.
I decided to write this one to help show people how the powerful the human mind is.
This book is about you putting yourself in the mindset you need to succeed. It will show you how to do it by sharing with you the amazingly powerful and simple things that will help enable you to become a success if you just want it bad enough. That want is there in your mind, you just have to dig deep to access it. It’s not going to be easy. Success is not easy. You will have to work hard at it, but I promise you my book will show you how you can access a part of your mind that will help you achieve your goals.
This book will show you how to unlock the power within your brain to put yourself in the mindset you must be in to achieve success.
Success is all about your mindset
Success is all in your head. Your mind controls your body and ultimately your success.
When you realize that, when you truly understand that fact, you will start seeing opportunity everywhere. It will be difficult for you to not be excited because you’ll have all kinds of new ideas and you will want to start right away.
Most of what’s in the book you already know, and it seems obvious, but I put it together in a way that makes it simple to understand how to achieve success and why most people never do. I explain how to make it easy to apply in your personal and business life. No matter what your goal is, this book will help you achieve it if you apply yourself and what I’m about to share with you.
Let’s be clear. Just reading this book WIL NOT MAKE YOU A SUCCESS! You must apply yourself. You must work hard, and work smart. You have to be disciplined and motivated. You must have the drive and dedication to do what needs to be done to succeed. You can’t just read this book, or any book and expect success to just come to you.
The key to unlocking success is desire, discipline and action. You have to want it. You have to have discipline to push yourself toward success. And you have to take action and do the things that will get you to where you want to be.
What I’m going to share with you is extremely powerful.
The techniques and lessons I teach in this book can be used for bad things by bad people and I struggled on whether or not to even write about it because of that danger. I’m not joking, this information is dangerously powerful and you must use it for good. I realize though that most people are good people, and I believe and have faith in the good of humanity, so I chose to share this information with the world.
If you are able to get yourself into the right mindset you can achieve anything you set your mind to do. If you apply what I teach in this book it will make you more powerful, more confident, more driven and you will be a force to be reckoned with. I’m absolutely serious. This is no joke, nor is this something to play around with. Successful people have something most people don’t and I reveal the truth of what that is in this book. It’s also so simple that it’s amazing most people don’t realize it, or maybe they do realize it but they’re to lazy to apply themselves to do anything with it. Either way this book can change your life if you’re motivated for the right reasons and you understand the concepts I share.
This book will help you succeed at anything if you work hard, put in the hours, and apply what I’ve written within it’s pages. This book is more than a simple checklist of 33 things that will help you. I have discovered something that most people think is a mystery or only available to the rich and elite. It’s not just the elite that know what’s contained within this book. You know it too. You already have it. You can access it if you simply condition your mind.
You will understand the secrets of the super rich and ultra successful people now and you will know what they know. You will know how they got rich. You will know how successful people become successful. While reading this book you will figure out how they got where they are.
While I was homeless I discovered something. I had an epiphany. A realization. I figured out the secret to being successful at anything.
It’s so simple it’s hidden in plain sight.
But to access it, you have to be in a place that will allow you to access the part of your brain that will put you in the success mindset.
You have to be hungry
If you’ve never been hungry, I mean truly hungry for success, then it may be hard if not impossible to understand the mindset. I don’t expect everyone to get it, but those that do will discover how to change how they do things to make everything they do get them closer to their goals.
This isn’t just about thinking positive thoughts or manifesting your reality. The law of attraction stuff works, but only to the extent that you apply yourself and actually work. It’s much more than simply manifesting your own success. It takes hard work, intelligence, effort, talent, and knowledge. I will share that knowledge with you.
I am confident you will enjoy the book and that after reading it you will thank me for sharing this information with you. It’s really not difficult to figure out, but it is difficult to implement because it will take time, effort, work, dedication, and an insane work ethic. You’ll see.
Ask yourself what you want
What do you really want the most out of life? What gets you excited? What makes you happy?
Set your goals.
Whether it’s your personal life or your business life you have goals. Write them down now and then start reading. Then after you read this book, reevaluate your goals. Are they realistic?
I’m not saying that to be negative at all, nor am I trying to make your goals seem small or too big. I’m only saying that you are capable of achieving much more than you think possible.
What’s your motivation? What are your goals? Write them down.
What do you want out of life?
To be rich?
Be a millionaire?
Go to college?
Star in a movie?
Buy a big house?
Build a successful business?
Join a pro sports team?
Travel the world?
Brand new car?
Get in shape?
Find the love of your life?
Live a better life?
Write down what you want, no matter what it is. If you want to be a millionaire write it down. If you want to buy a house, write it down. If you want a new car…you get the point. Write it down. This is an important step. You must write your goals down. I’m amazed at how many people think they don’t need to do this.
EVEN BILLIONAIRES WRITE DOWN THEIR GOALS!
I want you to realize that you are capable of much more than you ever thought possible.
Success is all in your head
What you think you know about success is most likely wrong. You don’t learn how to be successful in school. They don’t teach you the skills you need to be rich.
They don’t teach you how to change your oil or build a house or pay your taxes.
School only teaches you the basics you’ll never use in the real-world and that sets you up for failure.
School prepares you to fail because it doesn’t prepare you to succeed.
Traditional public school and college prepares you to be a cog in the wheel of a system that keeps you in debt and in indentured servitude. In fact if you have student loan debt you’re among the 70% of college graduates that leave college with massive amounts of crushing debt that will hinder you for decades to come. Perhaps even one of your goals is to pay down your student loan debt.
This is about you. This is about your success and how you can achieve it no matter what it is or where you come from.
It doesn’t matter what your background is, what ethnicity you are, what religion you are or aren’t, what your beliefs are or what political party you belong to or affiliate with.
None of that matters because we’re all human beings and human beings want one thing. To be happy. That is what we all strive for.
Success is blind and doesn’t judge. Success doesn’t care who you are or where you come from. Success is colorblind and doesn’t discriminate. Neither does failure. Understand that. Remember that.
This book will teach you how to deal with failure and turn failure into a positive learning experience.
It will teach you how to focus on your success
It will teach you how to make your goals a reality
It will teach you how to think like a successful person
It will teach you how you can turn failure into success
It will teach you how to turn a negative into a positive
It will teach you how make better decisions
It will teach you how to motivate yourself
It will teach you how to be confident
It will teach you how to change your mind
It will teach you how to change your life
Change your mind and you will change your life
That sounds cliche and quirky, but it’s true. That’s why it’s cliche. It’s one of the single most powerful things you will learn.
Your mind is capable of so much more than you think it is and I will show you how to unlock your potential, access powerful new parts of your brain, change your thinking and create new neural pathways that will help you succeed in anything you do.
Like I said before, success is all in your head.
I simply show you how to unlock your brain and your potential so you can take the steps necessary to make your goals and dreams a reality.
So, lets get to it.
33 Things You Need To Succeed at Anything
Author’s Note: This list is in no particular order of importance so don’t think that you have to follow a set way of doing things. I thought about putting this list in the order of importance, however that might confuse some folks or make people think some parts of this book are more important than others. It’s all important to achieve success. Every bit of it. This book is not a step-by-step program to success. It’s more powerful than that because it lists 33 things you need to succeed at anything no matter what and shows you there is no real step-by-step guide that will make you a success because success comes from within you. You just need to unlock it and make it happen. Thanks for reading and enjoy the book and the knowledge I share with you.
You must be able to envision your idea, goals and yourself as successful to manifest it and make it happen. You must put yourself there in that successful place before you start. You must be able to visualize your goals and the success you want no matter what it is. If you want a better body, visualize it, be detailed, picture yourself at your ideal weight and being in the shape you want to be in. If you want to be a better athlete, a successful stock broker, investor, businessperson, or if you have the next billion dollar idea, you must be able to visualize your goals and make them real in your mind. Literally see it in your mind’s eye. Work towards that goal.
2. Desire (BURNING DESIRE!)
Think and Grow Rich taught me that you have to want it. I mean you REALLY HAVE TO WANT IT! More than anything you’ve ever wanted before in your entire life. Napoleon Hill said in his book Think and Grow Rich,
“The starting point of all achievement is DESIRE.”
You need to want it more than anything. That desire needs to be a burning desire, something you think about all the time. That desire will help you stay focused through any adversity and will help you spot opportunity where others would never be able to see it.
Having that burning desire is vital to your success because it will give you the drive necessary to power through obstacles and the challenges you will face much more easily. Having that burning desire will also help you stay focused on your goals.
Have you ever focused so hard on something you wanted that everything just kind of fell into place? It was almost as if you knew what to do instinctively. This is the kind of desire I’m talking about. That level of desire will make your focus laser sharp and allow you to stay focused through distractions.
Ask yourself what you want the most, then form a burning desire for it. Want it more than you want anything in the world. Feel it! I mean really feel that want inside you and let that guide you to your goal.
You must be driven to succeed. This is about your desire and using that desire to push yourself harder. That desire powers your drive and your motivation. It powers you through hardship and gives you the drive you need to get through the challenges and helps you deal with adversity. Drive is more than strength. Drive is strength times motivation. You have something that motivates you whether that’s money, a new house, passing a test, getting in shape, winning a tournament, competition, winning a big game, starting a new business or getting that dream job. You motivation is that thing you want the most, whatever that might be. You must have the drive to go after it. You must have the strength and the motivation, both. That’s what drives you. Figure out what that is. Write it down. Visualize it. See it in your minds eye. Vision is vitally important and it helps give you the strength and motivation to pursue your goals in life. Be driven. Find the drive within yourself. It’s there, you simply have to access it. Focus on your desire and you will find your drive. You will become driven.
You must have the self discipline it takes to make your goals a reality. This means having the strength and willpower to resist and an all temptations that will distract you from or stop you from reaching your goals. It means getting yourself in a routine, a habit of making the hard decision.
Usually the hard decision that you don’t want to make is the right one. Not always, but that’s usually the case. Your mind knows what the right decision is, and your cognitive bias and pleasure zones in your brain will try to reject anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. Discipline takes willpower, resolve and strength.
It takes willpower to pull yourself out of bed at 5am and go for a run. It takes willpower to stick with something long enough and see it through to the end and the culmination of success. Self discipline is one of the most important things you need because without it you will stray from your goals, you’ll give in to the temptation to take shortcuts, and it will take longer for you to achieve success in the long term because you will have to keep starting over.
Ask yourself if your level of discipline matches that of Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Richard Branson, Michael Jordan, Deion Sanders, LeBron James, Tiger Woods, Muhammad Ali, Jesse Owens, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffett, Mark Cuban, Reed Hastings (Netflix CEO), Jay Z, Jack Ma (Founder of Alibaba), Charlie Munger, Larry Page and Sergey Brin (Founders of Google), Mark Zuckerberg, J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter series author and multi billionaire author). Understand that all these people have one thing in common. Uncommon discipline. Uncommon drive and dedication to become successful.
They have something you think you don’t. They have money, yes, but it’s more than money. It’s an inner strength of character and the willpower to be successful that almost everyone has within them, but usually they never tap into that potential.
If you’re reading this book you have that potential within you to be very successful. The level of success is dictated almost wholly by your level of discipline and the 33 principles and tenets of success that I have laid out in this book. You have the potential to do much more than you think possible.
Yes, it’s ok to compare yourself to others on certain things. Especially when you compare yourself to billionaires and ultra-successful people. You need to be smart about it though. Don’t just look at them and say “Well, they have things I’ll never have.” or “How in the world will I ever be that successful?”.
Don’t do that because it’s self defeating thought. Look at it like this.
Ask yourself what they have (besides money and success) that others don’t. Ask yourself what they have that you don’t. What do they have that you want? Ask yourself and be honest with yourself about what they have that you want that you can work towards right now.
Don’t wait until you’re ready because you’ll never be ready and that right moment you think is coming will never be perfect. You must ACT now! Not later, or when you feel better or when you know more. Action is part of discipline. You must be disciplined enough to act. I think this is where most people drop the ball and get off track.
Unsuccessful people are unsuccessful because they lack discipline to become successful.
Are you as disciplined as the successful people I listed above? When it comes to self discipline and next level success you must be 10 times more disciplined than the most disciplined person you know.
If you’re on a diet and you’re trying to lose 20 pounds this means not eating fast food, cake, or pie, or cheeseburgers, or pizza or hot wings. It’s fine to treat yourself every now and then, but fast food is unhealthy food and should be consumed in moderation or not at all.
If you’re extreme about it, and want to stay away from fast food altogether then never eating fast food makes sense. If you’re a bodybuilder you may not want to at or drink anything that has fat or sugar. If you’re an athlete training for a race or a big game you must not give in to the temptations to break your diet.
This may mean foregoing all sweets and fats for fruits and veggies. This means getting up before anyone else, working harder, smarter, longer and more efficiently than anyone else. This means sticking to your goals and having the self discipline to say no when someone tempts you with something you know you shouldn’t do.
This isn’t to say you shouldn’t have fun or take a break from time to time. You need to rest and you need a break every now and then. You need to rejuvenate, to recharge and a break will help you do that and that will help you stay focused and not burn out. It’s a balance.
You must have balance in you life and that’s part of having self discipline. You must know when to say when and when enough is enough. Listen to your body, do what it tells you. Work for it but not so hard that you burn yourself out.
If you feel burnout coming on, take a breather, go take a shower, take a nap for 20 minutes, grab some water, take 5 minutes to breathe, go for a run or walk.
Have the self discipline to manage your money wisely, hire a professional if you need to. Don’t have false pride, don’t be afraid to ask for help.
This is part of discipline and that is also being honest with yourself. All these things will help you succeed in anything you set your mind to.
Never give up! Except when it makes sense to walk away from a project. This seems counterintuitive and even a way to make excuses for failure. I’m not saying make excuses, I’m saying that you shouldn’t continue to do something that is not moving you closer to your goals, and to quit when it’s clear that you’re not on the right track.
If it’s not working, stick with it until it’s clear it won’t work, then stop. Move on, start again.
Keep going. Have you ever quit anything in your life?
Have you ever failed? Did you get up and brush yourself off afterwards?
This is synonymous with persistence, however dedication will help you focus more on your long term goals. Be more dedicated than anyone around you. This will help you stay persistent. Dedicate your every waking moment to the pursuit of your goals. Be obsessive about it. Dedicate yourself to your success.
Be confident in your abilities and knowledge. Have confidence but don’t be a cocky jerk. No one likes an overly cocky person.
Temper your confidence with humility and be aware of how you are perceived by others.
This goes to communication and persuasiveness and the art of making business deals, sales and getting people to work with you or help you. It’s also about winning friends and influencing people.
If you’re a salesperson and you’re overly confident to the point of being cocky this will be very off-putting to your prospect and they will most likely not purchase whatever service or product you’re trying to sell them. Stock brokers and sleazy car salesman come to mind. You can be confident without being cocky.
Having confidence is not needing to prove anything to anyone.
You must be able to make decisions and stick with those decisions. Make the best decisions with the information available, base those decisions on facts and evidence, and whether or not they fit with your pursuit of success.
Ask yourself if the decision you’re about to make gets you closer to your goal and if it does, do it, as long as it’s legal and ethical of course.
Be more determined than anyone else around you. Seriously. Be obsessively determined to be successful. No matter what your goals are, you must be in the right mindset to reach them. Determination goes right along with persistence.
You need both so you don’t quit, so you don’t make excuses, and so you have the willpower to power through hardship, danger, risk and pain. Professional athletes do it all the time. The push themselves through sheer willpower and determination.
That have an almost crazy level of drive to push forward through any obstacle to reach their goals. You can put yourself in that mindset too.
It becomes easier and easier over time as you form habits to access the level of determination you need to succeed.
What motivates you? This is not the same as “being motivated”, that part of the pursuit of success on this list is about Drive and your ability to stay driven and focused on your goals. Motivation is about asking yourself what your motivation is.
What is your motivation? Is it money? Do you want to lift more weight? Do you want to lose weight? Do you want a raise at work? Do you want a promotion? Do you want a new job? Do you want to save more money for retirement? Do you want to be a successful business person? Do you want to be a millionaire? Do you want to win a competition? Do you want to be a better athlete? Do you want to get a better apartment or to buy your first home?
These are your motivations and are different and more specific than the drive and determination you must have within you to reach your goals. Your motivation is very specific. Write them down. Yes, they are goals, but they’re more than goals.
Writing down your goals is important, but you should verbalize it, you should visualize your goals because they are your motivation. Writing your goals down is a good thing, but visualizing your goals and understanding your motivation is much more powerful.
Understanding your motivation to reach your goals gets you closer to knowing what you end game is. Ask yourself what you end game is. What do you want to do besides “get rich” if that’s what you want to do. Why do you want to be rich? What will you do with the money?
See what I mean? It really helps you narrow down and focus on your real motivation. Then you can break your goals down into smaller bite-sized pieces which will help you reach your next goal and the next and the next.
Learn to communicate effectively. Make that one of your most important goals. Read more. Books will help you speak more intelligently. Reading more books will help you write more effectively.
Reading more books will help you succeed because while you’re read you’re training your mind. You’re not just downloading the knowledge of whoever you’re reading into your brain, you’re becoming more knowledgeable about how to use your mind to further yourself and your goals.
You will learn over time how to communicate more effectively and this pays off big dividends when speaking to potential investors, your boss about a raise or promotion, or a potential employer in a job interview.
You need to know how to communicate your vision, your ideas, your goals to others who can help you achieve them. You need to be clear and concise about what it is that you want. You should be able to explain your idea or goal clearly and in one simple clearly stated sentence so it is easy for others to understand your vision.
This helps you communicate with those who can help you achieve success.
The art of persuasion is a learned skill. Learn how to persuade others. Persuading others to help you starts with being able to communicate your ideas clearly so that the person or group you’re speaking to can envision and understand what you’re proposing. Then and only then can you persuade them to help you.
Whether that’s to invest in your company or idea, give you the job you want, get a raise or promotion, join a sports team, or sell more of your product or service than your competitor. Persuasiveness is about selling people not just on your idea but you are selling yourself as well as your idea. It’s easier to sell someone something when they like you.
Be likable. Be friendly. Listen to what others want, help them get what they want, and they will reward you by buying into what you’re selling them.
Be honest. Be brutally honest with yourself and also be honest with others, sometimes brutally. Be your biggest critic. This is not to say be negative with yourself or to down on yourself. Just be honest with yourself, don’t delude yourself into thinking you’re the best at something when you can still learn a few things about it.
Be honest with yourself and others when you make a mistake. Own it. When you own your mistakes people will respect you and they will trust you more. They will realize you are a trustworthy dependable person and opportunity will come to you.
Honesty is a virtue. Be honest with yourself about your strengths and your weaknesses.
Strengthen yourself by being honest with yourself about everything. Don’t lie to yourself because it’s self defeating. It will not help you in the long run.
Be honest with others and they will reward you with their trust.
If they don’t and they are negative about it, then they will show themselves to be untrustworthy and ungrateful and they are not people you want in your life anyway. Surround yourself with positive people who are more successful than you and they will help you be honest because they won’t let you lie to yourself. Also have people in your life that are honest with you, even if it hurts a little.
This goes to choosing a mentor, the right mentor that will help you stay honest, not someone who will drag you down.
When you’re honest with yourself and others it will attract the right people into your life and things will start to change for the better.
Think like you’re already successful. Put yourself in the success frame of mind. Train your mind to focus on success. Tell yourself you’re successful. If you want to be a millionaire, think like a millionaire.
If you want to be a top athlete, then think like a top athlete. Have the mindset that you will be successful no matter what. Set your mind to it and truly believe it. Visualize it. Believe wholeheartedly.
Mindset is different than attitude in that mindset is about and directly related to your drive and the visualization of your goals. It’s about manifesting your success.
This is a simple visualization of your goals, seeing yourself in those goals, already as a success, and keeping that vision in your mind at all times.
The more you believe you are and will be successful the more likely you will succeed.
Think positive and be positive. Yes, it’s easier said than done. If it were easy everyone would do it, right? You have to change you attitude. You must have the attitude that no matter what happens you will succeed. You need to feel it.
Changing your attitude is about not dwelling on the negative. Acknowledge the negative when it those thoughts present themselves but don’t dwell on it. Be mindful of your thoughts. Acknowledge them, deal with it, be honest with yourself about it.
Change what you need to change. Focus on the positive. Turn the negative into a positive by solving the problem that caused the negative thought. This is about your mind. How you think. What you think. Who you think about. It’s about having the attitude that you need to learn new things and you can’t do that if you focused on the negative.
Change your attitude by discovering what you learned from any given situation and then turn it into a positive learning experience. Do your best to keep a positive outlook on life and business by focusing on the lessons learned. have the attitude that everything is a learning experience.
Everything that happens is about learning and furthering your knowledge and experience and using that to motivate yourself to better yourself. Having that attitude about everything will help you stay positive.
Find the lesson in everything and that will help you keep moving forward toward your goals and ultimately your success. You have the power inside you to change your attitude and your life.
Be grateful of others help and their knowledge they have imparted to you. Be thankful when others help you. Let them know you appreciate them. Show them with actions that you have gratitude for their help and advice.
Let them know they are important to you and you appreciate what they have done for you.
Don’t lie. Gratitude is a powerful selling tool, being truly grateful for something or someone’s help is also a sign that you’re a good person.
Grateful people tend to be more successful and successful people tend to be more grateful. I think there’s a very important correlation there and possibly even a causation. I think the more grateful you are, the more you show others that you truly appreciate them and their help and advice and friendship the more successful you will be.
This is not to say you over do it though because then you just seem fake. If you’re overly grateful and you over do it and you’re not honest people will notice.
They may not say it, but they’ll notice. Don’t be fake. Be truly grateful. It will show, people will see it and things will start to change for the better. Being grateful of course takes humility.
The ability to admit when you’re wrong or you make a mistake. Admit it. Own it. Admit to your fallibility. Embrace it. Understand you’re imperfect and acknowledge it.
That takes strength of character. It’s not negative to be honest. Be honest with yourself and others. People will respect you more for it. People will follow you.
18. Insane Work Ethic
Work harder and smarter than anyone you know. Elon Musk is one of my mentors. Unofficially, since I’ve never met him. He has an insane work ethic according to his ex wife. He works harder, smarter and longer that anyone else around him.
He leads by example. Having an insane work ethic means getting up before anyone else. Being in the office ahead of anyone else, including your boss. It means having the self discipline to not be distracted by anything that is not moving you toward your goals.
This isn’t to say you shouldn’t live your life. Don’t neglect your friends and family, or ignore everyday responsibilities. You must work harder than anyone else around you if you want to have the level of success that few people ever achieve.
Don’t just work harder, be the hardest worker. Set the bar. Set an example.
This goes to being a leader. That’s what ultra-successful people do. They work smarter and harder than everyone else around them. They seem ultra focused because they are.
This might seem to some people like they are arrogant or they think they’re better than others, but that’s not the case. They are so hyper-focused and work so much harder than everyone else that some people resent that they work harder because it makes them look bad. Some people feel threatened by other people’s success.
Don’t feel threatened by successful people. Look at people that are more successful than you as people you can learn from.
It’s easy to point your finger and say “Bad!” but it takes humility and honestly to look at someone who’s more successful than you are and acknowledge that they know something you don’t.
They are more successful because they do things you don’t do. You can learn from those who are more successful than you and take that knowledge and teach others how to do it too. Every single ultra-successful person who has ever lived has had an insane work ethic.
Work harder, faster, longer and more efficiently than anyone around you.
Emulate those who are more successful than you.
19. Apply Yourself
Learn how to apply yourself and the knowledge you’ve gained to reach your goals. Take what you’ve learned and apply it by taking action. Take action! This is at the core of applying yourself and your knowledge.
Just reading this book won’t make you a success. You must apply yourself and the techniques I’ve shared with you. You are in control of you own destiny.
Own it. Step up to the plate and do the work that needs to be done to become successful.
You must make intelligent decisions. To make intelligent decisions you must be intelligent. Being intelligent consists in part of being intellectually honest with yourself.
Intelligence isn’t about being able to add 2+2 or knowing how to build rockets, but it certainly helps.
Being smart is about being able to figure things out, to problem solve and to find the answers on your own without anyone telling you the answer.
Intelligence is measured not in how much money you have but in your ability to solve problems. (which I talk about in a moment)
21. Critical Thinking
Critical thinking is the ability to think objectively about a problem or topic and to form an opinion based on facts and evidence rather than being biased by your own personal opinion. What does this have to do with success?
Everything. It allows you to cut through the BS in life and make better decisions. Better decisions means fewer mistakes and less losses.
That is key in business and it means you’re more responsible and that will make investing in you or your business more attractive to others and potential investors who can write you big checks to get your ideas off the ground.
Critical thinking goes directly to intelligence and your ability to think critically, objectively. To be able to deduce the facts from all the BS is a very valuable skill to have in life and especially business.
22. Deductive Reasoning
This means you can find the facts and truth by weighing everything against everything else, in simple terms. It’s drawing conclusions based on the facts available and figuring things out with an educated and evidence based guess.
You reason that such is true if the other things are false. This is a very valuable skill to have when making business decisions.
It also helps you tell when others are lying to you, and allows you to make the best possible decision when faced with a tough circumstance.
23. Imagination & Creativity
Having imagination and being creative are vital to your success. Business requires creative thinking and problem solving skills. It also helps you outthink your competition.
Creativity is basically adapting to change and finding a creative way to solve a problem. Creativity also means coming up with cool new ideas.
It’s not all about art or drawing or painting or music.
Creativity in regards to success helps you creatively solve problems and come up with new business ideas. Find your creativity by turning your world upside down.
Look at things with a new perspective and from different angles. What I mean by that is look at the world differently than anyone else. Think backwards. Think inside out and upside down. Think opposite of what people tell you to think.
Your mind is elastic in that it’s malleable. You can train your mind to think differently. Even if you don’t think you have creativity within you, you do.
Your mind is way more creative than you know. If someone says white, think black. Be contrarian. Don’t conform.
If someone says down, think up. If someone says water, think fire.
The point of this mental exercise is to change the way your mind works. This creates new neural pathways in your brain and allows you to access your creative side. You will need to practice.
If you’ve never drawn anything and think you can’t, just get a piece a paper and a pencil and copy a picture. Turn that picture UPSIDE DOWN and backwards.
Copy it as best you can. When you’re done, turn it right side up and you will be amazed at how closely it resembles the original picture. The point of this exercise isn’t to turn you into Picasso or Leonardo DaVinci overnight, but it’s to show you that you have more creativity in your mind than you think you do.
Even if you’re already an artist. What does this have to do with success and achieving your goals? Everything.
Successful people think differently than unsuccessful people.
They think backwards. They think upside down. To everyone else they seem to think outrageously unorthodox. It’s because most people don’t really know how to think. Most people have never been trained how to think creatively or to problem solve.
This is part of being creative. Problem solving requires that you be able to think critically and creatively. This goes to helping you make the best possible business decisions in any given circumstance. It helps you make wiser financial decisions. Train your brain for success by training yourself to be more creative.
You’re not really learning anything new here, you’re simply accessing the creative power you already have within you. It’s there, you just need to access and activate it by creating new neural pathways in your brain. Your brain is a powerful bio-chemical machine.
The human mind is the most powerful computer on earth. You have the most powerful computer on earth in your head, use it, learn to use it to it’s full potential by thinking differently. Unlock your brain and unlock your full potential.
24. Problem Solving
OK. This is extremely important. Having intelligence, critical thinking, deductive reasoning, imagination and creativity are important. All these things help you solve problems. Be a problem solver. If you can solve someone’s problem you can turn that into a money maker.
Every sale that has ever been made solved a problem for someone. Think about that for a second. Making a sale solves a problem for your prospect. You need to be able to problem solve in business. That is the key to success.
That is what separates the losers from the winners. If your problem is losing weight, find out what is causing you to gain weight. If it’s lack of exercise and eating the wrong diet, change it.
When you change how you think and how you do things you’ll be a better problem solver and the you’re a better problem solver you will becomes more successful.
25. Detail Oriented
Concentrate on the details, but not the minutiae. Don’t get bogged down and over analyze things or you will end up in paralysis analysis. Don’t over think it. Make a decision based on the facts and your best guess/prediction and move on.
Details are important. Pay attention to the details. If you’re creating a product or providing a service or just working on your car, details are vital to doing a good job. Now, like I said, don’t go crazy and be overly obsessed with detail or you’ll either never get anything done because it’ll never be “perfect” enough, or you’ll get burned out faster and it’ll take you a lot longer to reach your goals.
Focus on the details enough that you create high quality products and services, but move forward and on to the next step once quality control says it meets your high quality standards. Details help you create well thought out, complete and comprehensive product and services.
This helps improve your image and is more professional. It’s just good business.
26. Quality Work
You must do quality work. Don’t do just “good enough” or you will never reach the top. Take pride in doing quality work. Whether that means working out harder and longer than any else in your gym, or increasing quality on the production line at the factory where you work.
Quality means means pride in your work and being proud of what you do. Do quality work and your bank account will thank you. Your boss will thank you with a promotion and a raise…and if he or she doesn’t, then perhaps you should look at the job you’re in and ask yourself whether it’s right for you.
Does your employer appreciate you and the quality of the work you do? If not perhaps consider finding another job.
Don’t just quit…be smart about it. Be responsible about it. Do it right.
That is part of doing quality work. Take the time to do it right. Do it right the first time and you’ll be rewarded for it. People are attracted to quality.
Quality people do quality work.
That’s just the way it works.
27. Time Management
Your time on this earth is finite. Understand how important that understanding is to your success. Because when you get it…when you realize that your time is priceless you will use it more wisely. Learn to manage your time!
Time is invaluable. Once it’s gone it’s gone.
Don’t spend it foolishly on things that don’t make you happy or aren’t moving you closer to your goals.
Sure, it’s ok to take a break, spend times with friends and family, because that’s part of what life’s about. However, you should be stingy with your time because you have a finite amount of it to give. Give it wisely. Invest it.
Invest it in your family, your business, and yourself. Keep yourself healthy and you’ll have more time to give.
Learn how to delegate tasks to those who work for you. Learn how to choose people you can depend on for your success team. This will free you up to pursue your goals.
Goals take time to accomplish, and when you can delegate the trivial tedious things that take up your valuable time, that time can now be spent doing other more important things.
This isn’t to say give others the hard work or bad work that you just don’t feel like doing yourself. Don’t be lazy.
This is just to say learn how to delegate certain tasks that maximize your efficiency and help you manage your time more wisely.
29. Prepare For Failure
No. This is not to be negative. It’s actually positive thinking. Just know that failure will happen in some things you try. Prepare yourself for it ahead of time know it will happen, be aware of it when it does, don’t deny it, own it, change it, fix it, and move forward.
Look at it as a learning experience, learn from it, remember it, and move on. This mentality helps you get through the hard times and challenges you will face on your way to achieving your goals. It seems negative at first to say prepare for failure.
I read somewhere that you should “Expect failure” that way you’re more prepared for it when it happens and that it won’t be as detrimental to you and your pursuit of your goals and success.
Benjamin Franklin also said “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”
This isn’t to say dwell on failure, or be negative, just know that you should be aware of, and prepare for it, that way you’re ready and you can rebound quickly afterward to back on track and start moving forward again.
Be hyper-focused. Keep your eye on the prize. (But don’t where blinders; don’t be so focused you fail to see warning signs or that you ignore your friends and family. They are after all, why you’re working and should be part of your goals.)
This goes back to having vision, but it’s more simple than visualizing your success, it’s about staying focused no matter what.
Sure you’ll have ups and downs, but you are smart and have prepared for it, and you have the ability to stay focused on your goals and stay on track always moving forward toward your goals and ultimately your success.
If you don’t have your health you have nothing.
Work on your health. Health is perhaps the most important thing you can do for yourself that will help you achieve success in anything you do because without your health you can’t pursue your goals. Without your health you have nothing. All the money in the world won’t help you become healthier.
To be happy you must stay healthy. Work out, exercise, run, jog, walk, lift weights, do cardio, eat right, and get enough sleep. What’s enough? Whatever makes you feel good, helps you stay motivated and provides you with the energy you need to pursue your goals.
This is different for all people but you can do it if you set your mind to it. It’s all about your mindset. You have the strength inside you to be healthy. It takes discipline and courage and dedication. You have it within you to do more than you think you can.
You can be healthy and when you’re healthy you can work harder, faster, longer and have the stamina you will need to reach your goals and become a success.
You must have the courage to move forward, to take action and pursue your dreams, do your dreams, and make your goals a reality. You are more courageous than you think. You have more courage within you than you think.
You are more capable than you think you are. You would be surprised at what you are capable of.
My job is to help you realize your power and unlock your true potential.
You have it inside of yourself to do what needs to be done to succeed. You can do it.
Reach down deep and find the courage. It’s there within you.
Do it! Don’t talk about it. Take action. You either do it or you don’t. Abraham Lincoln said in 1856, “Actions speak louder than words’ and it’s just as true today. It will always be true. Action will always speak louder than words.
Words mean nothing. Words are just words.
This is not to say that books or writing mean nothing, they do. Words form ideas, ideas motivate people to take action and do things. But you have to actually do something, even if you make an honest mistake, you must simply take action.
Don’t wait for the right time, because the right time never comes.
Just do something or there’s risk of failure. If you do nothing, you already failed. Just act. As Napoleon Hill said in his book Think & Grow Rich
“Do not wait: the time will never be ‘just right’. Start where you stand, and work whatever tools you may have at your command and better tools will be found as you go along.”
And of course…I can’t talk about action without quoting the great Jedi Master Yoda. “Do or do not, there is no try.” You either fail or you succeed. Now, this might be controversial to say but I think that when you talk about success you can’t ignore failure.
This is not to be negative or dissuade or discourage you in any way, because what I’m talking about here is to just be aware of it. It’s enough to just be aware. Be aware and prepare, then act. It’s really that simple.
Don’t wait to be ready because you’ll never be fully ready. It’s like jumping into a swimming pool. You know it’s going to be cold, and you can sit there all day waiting until you’re ready, but you’ll never be ready.
If you wait, you’ll just be standing there forever.
Jump! Do it. Take the leap of faith.
NEXT LEVEL BONUSES:
How to be a leader and motivate people to help you achieve your goals
You need to be able to motivate people. To do that you need all the skills I’ve mentioned before and then some. here are a few extras for you to help you on your journey to success.
If you say you’re going to do something, do it. Keep your word. Do what you say you’re going to do. This builds trust. Trust is earned. Trust is essential in business and life. Show up to work on time, get to practice on time, don’t let people down if you can help it, but if and when it happens, make sure you let people know you’re sorry.
Mean it. Apologize. Be honest. Don’t hide behind your pride. This makes you more reliable.
This makes you more dependable. It makes you more trustworthy and that will help you succeed in anything because people will trust you more because they know you will not let them down. They will trust you because you are reliable and you do what you say you’re going to do and that goes a long way in business and life.
Others depend on you, don’t shrink from the challenge, stand up, be strong, be a rock for others, be dependable. Be there for your friends and family. Invest in them and they will invest in you.
Be Consistent – Be the rock you and others need to lean on. Consistency is dependability. Consistency is reliable. The Old Faithful geyser in Yellowstone National Park is a perfect example of consistency. It’s dependable.
It always erupts at the same times, consistently. You can almost set your watch to it. The tides, the oceans, the mountains, they’re all analogies of life and of being consistent. Being consistent is the bedrock of success.
Be obsessed with succeeding. Make it part of your everyday life. Eat it, breathe it, drink it, live it. Not in a bad way. You still need balance. Moderation. Don’t over do your obsession, unless you want to be a billionaire.
Some folks would say Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Elon Musk and Richard Branson are obsessed. That’s the level and kind of obsession that I’m talking about. Be obsessed with succeeding and reaching your goals.
This goes back to humility. Don’t assume you know everything. Listen to those who have what you want. Listen to those who are living the life you want to live. Listen to those smarter than you.
You don’t have to be a follower if you don’t want to be, but you also don’t have to listen to those who don’t have anything to offer you. This sounds harsh, it sounds arrogant, it sounds selfish, and in a way it is. But the simple truth is success is not easy, success is earned.
You must work for success and if someone doesn’t have the level of success you want for yourself or you want to be more successful than someone else for whatever reason, then you must have the humility to look at yourself, be honest with yourself, and listen to what others advise you on. You must listen to those who have what you want to have to achieve the level of success you desire.
Practice makes perfect. Or perfect enough. Excel in what you do by practicing. Overcome your weaknesses by practicing. Become better by practicing. To master something you must do it over and over and over again until it becomes second nature.
Change The Way You Think & Act
Change! If you’re wrong…change! If what you’re doing isn’t working…change! If you’re not where you want to be…change! Don’t fear change.
Don’t stubbornly and arrogantly hold onto false beliefs which do not help you succeed or aren’t based in facts which help you reach your goals. Change your mind, change your mindset.
False beliefs and unhealthy actions will do more harm than good and will undermine your chances of success in life.
Be unafraid of change. Embrace change. Invite change into your life.
Evolve your mind and your body will follow.
Success will come. Change your mind based on the facts and not just what you believe. This takes humility. Learn to think critically, use deductive reasoning, and accept the facts for the facts because the facts don’t care about your opinions or beliefs.
If you believe something that isn’t factual then it’s not helping you succeed and you should replace that belief with the facts that will help you achieve your goals in life.
Change is all about accepting the facts and moving forward toward your goals.
Always. Can you delude yourself and be successful at the same time? Maybe, but you’ll know you’re faking it. You’ll be lying to yourself, and one of the 33 tenets of success is being honest with yourself and others.
This is about health, wealth, love and happiness. It’s about the Good Life. It’s about success, and you won’t be truly happy until you change the way you think. It will make you happier and more successful the more open you are to change. It takes negative energy to hold onto bias. It’s unhealthy for your brain and your body.
It’s hard to change though. Humans don’t like change. We fight change, even when change is good. We have a cognitive bias against change.
If something threatens our beliefs or what we think we know, or how we think something should be done, we rail against it because it makes us feel uncomfortable to think of changing.
This is the wrong way to think and is detrimental to your success because it’s mistaken reasoning, it’s a fallacy of logic and you can miss opportunities when you hold onto personal bias over facts. This effects your business and personal relationships.
You must let go of your personal opinions and replace them with facts if you ever hope to succeed. An example would be if you’re training for a marathon or some kind of competition or studying for an exam.
You’re most likely reading, working out, running everyday, eating right, hydrating properly, and getting the sleep you need before the big day.
If you’re only doing something because you were told to do it, or someone told you it would help you, if it turns out to be bad information and you keep doing it, you will lose. You will fail.
If it’s bad information why believe it? Find the facts and change your mind based on those facts. Change the way you think.
This is about getting into the right mindset. The mindset it takes to succeed at anything.
Change is vitally important to achieving success
because if you’re not successful now, the most likely reason that you’re not successful is because you have not changed enough of what you’re doing and how you think. Does that make sense?
Let me say that again a different way.
If you’re not successful and you don’t change the way you think and act for the better then you will always be chasing success and you will never achieve it.
That sounds harsh…and it is, because it’s the truth.
You cannot expect to succeed (and you don’t deserve success) if you do not change how you do things and that starts with changing your mindset. It starts with changing who you hang around with, who you listen to and who you look up to.
It starts with realizing and acknowledging that there are people out there who are more successful than you, listening to what they have to say and changing what you do to better pursue your dreams. Be humble. Admit you don’t know everything.
Change your thinking and your actions will follow.
Your dream of success will become a reality.
Don’t Make Excuses
Never make excuses for your shortcomings, failures, mistakes or not achieving your goals. Like I said above, have humility, be honest with yourself and others, admit when you’re wrong, own your mistakes, change, move on and move forward.
People will respect you more, people will trust you more and you will be more successful for it. It will create opportunity for you.
You Make Your Own Luck
You make your own luck through preparation, and study. Reading will impart the knowledge you need to download into your brain. Once you have the knowledge, start applying it, then preparation will become second nature.
The Roman philosopher, Seneca said
“Luck Is What Happens When Preparation Meets Opportunity”.
It’s absolutely true. It’s always been true and always will be true because knowledge will put you where opportunity exists at the right time and place. People who don’t understand preparation will believe luck exists when it comes to success, but in reality, successful people make their own luck because they prepare and that puts them in a place where opportunity presents itself more often.
They take advantage of that opportunity and to the outside world, they seem lucky. Maybe in a way they are lucky to a point. But it really comes from hard work and preparation.
Find a Mentor
Find someone who is where you want to be and emulate them, copy them, do what they do, follow them, follow their lead. If someone is not where you want to be and they try giving you advice, listen, be polite, but stay guarded.
Use common sense. If someone is where you want to be and has what you want to have, stay humble and be grateful for any help or advice they give you. If they have good advice, take it, apply it, apply yourself, and move forward. If not, discard the information and move on.
Always be moving forward toward your goals.
Everything you do needs to be moving you closer to your goals.
Be a Leader (in your field)
Learn to lead. Don’t follow anyone unless they are already where you want to be. Be confident not cocky. Show others the path to success. Don’t be afraid of giving away too much or showing weakness. Help others and they will be more inclined to help you.
Zig Ziglar said
“You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want,”.
This is part of what being a leader is all about. Gandhi said (or maybe he didn’t; depending on who you talk to) but the quote goes something like this. “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” and I would add, and your world will change for you. Notice I didn’t say “the world” will change for you. It won’t.
Your world will change.
UNLOCK YOUR BRAIN AND YOU UNLOCK YOUR POTENTIAL
THINK BIG! Then apply yourself.
I know I’m repeating myself here by saying apply yourself, but it must be drilled into your mind so it becomes second nature.
You don’t know what big really is. You only think you know what BIG is. Unless you are already there, you really don’t. Seriously. You don’t know what BIG is.
BIG IS A BILLION!
But it’s relative. Even someone with a billion dollars is not as big as someone with a net worth of 2 billion or 10 billion, or 100 billion dollars.
Not a million. A million is nothing now. But it’s still a million. Right? It’s all relative.
- BIG is dropping a million dollars on a hand of black jack and it not hurting you if you lose.
- BIG is buying a Lamborghini and blowing it up just because you wanted to.
- BIG is buying a multi-million dollar home in Miami just because you didn’t want to stay in a crappy 5 star hotel.
- BIG is buying a jet just to fly back and forth to work…in New York…from Atlanta.
- BIG is a 150’ yacht with a crew of 20, 3 chefs, a wine cellar, heli-pad, (and a helicopter), and your “skiff” is a 32’ Hatteras.
- BIG is building a billion dollar casino in Las Vegas because you got snubbed at Caesars Palace.
- BIG is running for President of the USA.
- BIG is ending poverty and homelessness and hunger within the next 20 years.
See what I’m saying. Sure, some of these are extreme examples. But they give you some perspective. Don’t think a goal is too big. No goal is too big. Not even living on another planet.
The more you know the more you realize you don’t know.
When you understand it completely it will help you understand everything. What I’ve explained here will help you if you apply it to your life and your business.
Will it make you successful no matter what? No. Nothing is guaranteed. Only you can make yourself successful. You control your own destiny. You control your health and happiness. Only you know what will make you happy and only you can determine your own happiness.
Your actions speak louder than my words. You must take the steps necessary to succeed. This is about you applying yourself and the knowledge I have imparted to you through my revelations and realizations, knowledge and experience.
What I’ve written here will help you succeed but it is not a guarantee of success. You must understand that you control your own actions and that’s the point. You control your destiny. You have the power. You control your success. You must act.
Just reading this will not make you succeed. You must apply what you have read and make it work for you.
You want to know the secret to success?
It’s that there is no secret.
That is the secret.
Success comes from:
- Within you!
- Self Discipline
Success comes from having the courage to do things differently and being honest with yourself and others and developing trust in yourself, your abilities and getting others to trust you enough to help you achieve your goals.
Success comes from having the right mindset and the right attitude toward others and your goals.
Success comes from having laser sharp unwavering focus. Success comes from having an insane work ethic. Success comes from having an awesome attitude towards life and others.
Success is all about you and you control how it’s done and where you want to go in life. I can’t make you a success but I can give you the knowledge I have that has helped me achieve success and if that helps you succeed then I have accomplished my mission.
I help people. That is my mission in life. I want to help people.
I do this to help myself as well, yes, of course. This is part of how I make a living. I can show you how to be successful. You hear the old adage,
“Success is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration.”
It takes work to be successful. Everything I’ve outlined in this article is what you need to succeed. Is this everything you need?
No. You need to work. You need to act. You need to find what works for you. You have the power within you to be a success at anything you set your mind to do.
This is why I think the most important part of success is in your mindset. It’s how you think. It’s about how you handle yourself and what action your take to apply yourself and your new knowledge. This isn’t some get rich quick scheme.
This isn’t some kind of gimmicky kind of program.
This is real life. This is me telling you how I do it, what I think, my experience and my knowledge. It’s me sharing with you the secrets I’ve discovered throughout my life about how to be success at anything.
I wrote these 33 things you need to succeed at anything on a whiteboard and then wrote this book because I wanted to help people. I wanted to write out what I have discovered that works and the most important things you need to succeed at anything.
Are there more than 33 things? Sure. Could I have boiled it down into a “Top 10 Checklist!” article and sell it for a profit? Sure.
But I realized something while writing it. That’s short term thinking. That’s small-minded.
That’s not what I wanted to do.
I want to help people do what I do. I want people to succeed. I want to help people succeed. At anything!
I realized something. I realized that being successful is all in your head. It’s all in your mindset. I talk about mindset a lot because that’s where success is born.
Success comes from within you
When I was homeless, living in my car, along side the road, hungry, broke, destitute, feeling like a complete loser and a failure, and wondering what I was going to do something happened. Something inside me changed. I changed.
It was being hungry. It was being poor. It was living in my Jeep. It was sleeping along side of a busy highway. It was having cops and security guards knocking on my window at 2am telling me to leave.
It was being hungrier than I’ve ever been in my life.
I had had enough. I said enough is enough. I promised myself I would never ever be that poor again. I would never go to that place again. I would never allow myself or my family to be in that place again.
I got angry.
Then I got calm.
I became focused.
I changed my mindset.
Something inside me changed forever. Something inside me made me think differently.
Maybe it was being hungry. I have never been that hungry before. Maybe it was being looked down on by people who thought they were better than me. Maybe it was the judgmental stares and the comments that people made to me. Maybe it was a combination of everything.
I can’t put my finger on any one thing. It was just me being done with everything. I was done being poor. I swore I would never let that happen again. I would never be poor again. I swore to myself I would never be homeless again.
I would do whatever it took to succeed. I would pull myself out of the bad place and into the world of success no matter what. I didn’t care how many hours I had to work. I didn’t care what anyone said. I would be more focused, more determined, more disciplined, and more committed to success than anyone. I would work smarter, harder, longer, faster, and be more disciplined than anyone.
I vowed to study the greats and the most successful people in the world, and to read everything they wrote. I figured that if I read everything every great person who ever lived wrote that I could take what they were teaching and apply it to my life. Then I could to find the secret to success.
Think about this.
When you read a book or anything written by someone who you admire, who is more successful than you, you are reading their thoughts.
You’re literally reading their mind.
You’re hearing directly from them.
It’s like they are speaking directly to you, telling you their thoughts.
It’s an insight into success that you will find nowhere else unless you read. And when I say read, I mean read everything you can from every successful person you can find.
If you want to be an athlete, read books they’ve written. If you want to be a successful investor read books written by successful investors. If you want to be a billionaire, read books written by billionaires.
But just know, that reading books is not enough. It’s powerful, it gives you knowledge, but it doesn’t do anything unless you apply yourself and the knowledge you learned. You must apply it.
You must take action.
You can’t just buy a book, read it, put it on your shelf and expect to be a success. You must put forth the effort needed to succeed. And that is what separates the winners from the losers.
I searched for the secret and guess what?
I found it! I found the secret to success.
The secret is that there is no secret.
Everyone knows it already. They just don’t do it. It’s very simple. People are lazy and they don’t want to do the work it takes to succeed. They read something, watch a video and never apply what they have learned.
It’s right there in front of you.
Change your mindset and apply yourself.
